Boot Scoot to the Country Blues Sounds of Jason Boland & The Stragglers

Jason Boland & The Stragglers’ mixture of musical influences culminates in a truly modern yet sternly vintage country sound, each song sharing a common bond with its classical counterpart and proving to be a re-generation of the outlaw country of old. Boland hails from Harrah, Oklahoma and carries with him the reputation for being a modern day country music outlaw. Both he and his band have been leaders in the Texas and Oklahoma music scene for years generating such hits as “Somewhere Down in Texas,” and “Pearl Snaps” from 8 albums.

Dance and Party to Crush!

Crush has established a reputation as one of the Southeast’s finest bands. Their impeccable song selection along with an astute attention to detail has given them the well earned status of being at the top of their game for over a decade. A Crush performance includes music by the greatest R&B, pop, rock & soul artists from the 60's, 70's, 80's & 90's on up to the present day, in addition to many favorite 'one hit wonders', songs rarely heard but expertly performed. Crush is a band that transcends the barriers of style and taps into the timeless elements in music. With Crush there is something for everyone & a guarantee of great times. The best in Classic R&B, Pop, Rock, and Soul... that is Crush!

How We Do It

This volunteer-driven event is supported by some of the area's largest corporate and medical organizations. The Raleigh Roundup is a special fundraising event to benefit the American Cancer Society's Raleigh Community Office. The money also helped to provide college scholarships for 87 students at colleges throughout North Carolina in 2008/2009. Your American Cancer Society is the number one non-profit, non-governmental provider of funding for cancer research in the country. Over the years, 42 former Society grantees have received the Nobel Prize. Nationally the Society spends approximately $131 million on research, with around $41 million going to the South Atlantic Division. Locally the money raised through the Raleigh Roundup helps to support a Hope Lodge Connection in Durham, five patient service programs in the Triangle area, corporate smoking cessation and physical activity programs, and a patient resource room in the Society's regional office in Raleigh. The money also helped to provide college scholarships for 33 students at colleges throughout North Carolina in 2008.

RESEARCH FUNDING ALLOCATION IN THE TRIANGLE for 2008/2009

Duke University and Medical Center: $3,361,000
UNC Chapel Hill: $10,818,702
